This intake manifold gasket is a highly critical component required to ensure a perfectly sealed and secure connection directly between the cylinder head and the intake manifold itself. A blown, cracked, or leaking intake gasket is one of the single most common causes of unmetered air (vacuum leaks) entering the engine past the carburetor or throttle body. Vacuum leaks inevitably lead to highly erratic idling, extreme difficulties when attempting to tune your carburetor, elevated emissions, and a generally noticeable loss of engine power and smooth drivability.

The gasket is manufactured from a highly heat-resistant and dimensionally stable material specifically designed to easily withstand the severe thermal cycling and constant chemical exposure from fuel and oil vapors found within the engine bay over many years of service.

Workshop tip: During installation, it is of the utmost importance that the mating surfaces on both the cylinder head and the intake manifold are perfectly clean, completely flat, and entirely free from any old gasket material or carbon buildup. Carefully use a dedicated gasket scraper, making sure not to gouge or scratch the relatively soft aluminum mating surfaces. Finally, tighten the manifold nuts evenly in a crisscross pattern to the manufacturer's recommended torque specifications to prevent warping the manifold.
