The idle jet has a direct and crucial impact on engine performance from idle up to approximately 2500–3000 RPM, as well as during the critical transition phase to the main circuit. A correctly sized idle jet prevents hesitation, flat spots, and spitting back through the carburetor when opening the throttle.
This jet belongs to the F8 series and is specifically designed for Weber's popular DCO and DCOE sidedraft carburetors. The 'F' designation determines the emulsion characteristics (the mixing of air and fuel) in this RPM range. On Weber's richness scale, where F6 is the richest and F3 is the leanest, the F8 is positioned on the richer half of the spectrum:
(Rich flow) F6 -> F12 -> F9 -> F8 -> F11 -> F13 -> F2 -> F4 -> F5 -> F7 -> F1 -> F3 (Lean flow)
