This specially manufactured step-down stud is designed to solve a common clearance issue that occurs when mounting large Weber DCO carburetors (such as the 48, 50, and 55 DCO). The problem is often that a standard M8 nut has too large of an outer diameter, causing it to foul against the carburetor body. This stud features an M8 thread that screws into the intake manifold, and steps down to an M6 thread towards the carburetor. This allows you to use the included, smaller M6 nut, giving you the necessary clearance to properly tighten the carburetor without damaging the casting.
